Long story short it’s a boom box emphasis on the boom unfortunately. Short story long. A lot is said about the bass and loudness of this speaker in the reviews I was led to. At least that’s what I got out of it. Loudness and bass. There IS bass A LOT but I don’t hear any fullness or depth or space over the constant and after a short time of mid-level listening boom boom boom or bang bang bang depending on the genre of the bass that comes out of this box. Hard sturdy box. Nothing moves nothing vibrates everything is bolted down tight. The bass is all short sounding vowels. You can adjust it and the sub bass (which sounds just as annoying) so it’s more bass or not as much bass but it’s still the same sound. Relentless.
Real person claim: Forgive all technical terms and jargon if used outside the realms of expertise I’m not one
There are so many frequency levels you can adjust which helps a little if you have the patience to walk to and from the speaker to manually adjust each level for every track which in today’s digital landscape would be always. Be prepared for exercise or earplugs. There is no app or remote. So stand or sit next to it and continually adjust away and still be buffeted with a sound that I hoped the money my credit card company paid would provide but in my somewhat miffed opinion does nowhere anywhere near not.
I have a big name single speaker technology brand starting and ending in s a fraction of the price in comparison easier to man handle and a sound I’d compare to home hifi systems (of course which I also have. I’m not making this up) and I prefer that for most listening experiences over this gigantor.
Long story shorter. the overall sound that I was hoping for and was disgruntled to hear from this speaker has been my own expensive lesson and yet I still have it. probably because I’m too tight to spend the $400 of my credit card companies borrowed money and my time to send it back. Or maybe I’m hoping to hear that track in a haystack that makes this piece of furniture sound like a $2000 speaker. Remember, hope is a good thing, maybe the best of things, and no good thing ever dies.
P.S. If you’re hosting block parties every weekend and you want to be the loudest without a concern for how the music sounds grab a partner and wheel this thing wherever there are people dancing. Wheels. Wheels and a luggage like handle that’s what would make this behemoth easier to lug around. Boom boom boom boom thump thump thump. Like a Batman fight scene. REALLY want this speaker or REALLY have $2000 of someone else’s money to flitter away.
